Year Running: 2015/2016
Credit level: F5
Pre Uni Qualification   A Level in Chemistry, A level in Mathematics

Description

The module will give students experience of practical chemical engineering, including the operation of equipment, safety considerations, teamwork, planning and the preparation of professional style reports. The students work in groups and carry out six practical experiments. The course aims to develop the students¿ ability to prepare technical reports of a professional standard based on experimental work. In addition the practical work is intended to focus and consolidate material given in lecture courses and to provide experience of team working. The laboratory exercises raise the issue of uncertainty in measurement and theory, and thus in conclusions derived from data and formulae. Students will gain experience in the use of commercial software to resolve chemical engineering problems.
